Why apply for this role?
Most chef jobs involve long hours in a stressful environment. At Maurie’s, you are never expected to work more than 5 shifts a week and 9 hours long (with breakS). If you do pick up any extra shifts OR HOURS you will always be paid overtime.
The kitchen is heavily supported by the founders of Maurie’s and the team, THE FOUNDERS work to ensure that the team are happy, looked after and aren’t stressed or overworked.
You will be working with our KITCHEN LEAD AND sous chef who will support your role, to ensure you are able to confidently lead the team in the kitchen. We make everything in house so you’ll work together to make everything alternating leading shifts to support one another.
This is a perfect role for someone who is looking for a role IN THE KITCHEN THAT IS CREATIVE IN A supportive environment where people are as important as the product. We are in our start up first year so we are looking for someone that is up for a challenge with an open mind, ADAPTIVE AND EAGER TO LEARN AND FEEDBACK TO MAKE CONSTANT IMPROVEMENTS, and a ‘can do’ positive attitude.
This role is perfect for someone who wants to hone their cooking EXPERIENCE, and develop new recipes FOR SANDWICHES AND MORE, ALONGSIDE AN EXCITING AND CREATIVE TEAM.

What will you be doing?
Cooking and Organisation
·Cook all food, avoiding waste, tasting regularly, feeding back wherever helpful
·preparation of all SANDWICHES
·UPHOLD quality control so high standards of quality are maintained consistently
·UPHOLD A clean and clear, organised working environment at all times
·Positive and receptive to menu changes, FEEDBACK and work place adaptations. Continued support and ideas fed to the founders and team.
We are looking for someone who has a proven track record with/in:
·NATURAL ABILITY AND cooking skills anD knowledge in the principles of good food
-VERY GOOD AT WRAPPING SANDWICHES - ATTENTION TO DETAIL, EFFICIENT
·Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Bags of cheerful energy and can-do attitude
·Role modelling appropriate kitchen behaviour. Kind, organised, calm, communicative and hard working
EXPERIENCE
·Experience of at least 1 years cooking in professional kitchens
